$1.6 billion investment over next 5 years
Taking a sustainable
approach
The management team at London Gatwick is committed to running the airport responsibly and recognises that sustainable growth will only be achieved through balancing our economic and social impacts with the environmental impacts of our operations.
Each year we set ourselves targets to cover every area of our activities, from air quality and noise pollution to water consumption and sustainable transport. In 2008, we achieved or bettered half of our targets, including reducing our CO2 emissions and encouraging passengers to access the airport via public transport.
We are also engaged with all the relevant health, safety and security bodies to ensure we are fully compliant with all legislation.
Infrastructure
& environment
London Gatwick is the world’s most efficient single runway airport. Our two terminals currently handle over 31.3 million passengers a year, but have the capacity to handle 40 million. To do so with the quality and breadth of facilities that are expected of a world-class airport, we are currently engaged in a five-year $1.6billion investment programme that will transform the infrastructure we offer both passengers and airlines.
